Balance. It’s hard. Working moms, stay at home moms, it’s all hard (and yes, this goes for dads too). If you work, you feel like you’re missing out on the small moments and that you’re not spending enough time with your family. If you stay home, you worry that you’re missing out on the workforce and that you could make more money doing something else. Maybe you have the best of both worlds and you’re a stay at home mom with an Etsy business that thrives or you’re a working mom who has a flexible schedule. Regardless, balance is hard.

We’re so convinced that we need to do everything. We need to maintain a social life, work to make money, and keep up with family. We need to keep up with the housework, the yardwork, and with actual work. If you push too hard to get further at work, you neglect something else. If you push too hard to stay family oriented, it’s hard to thrive at work. Balance.

Feeling it? Breathe.

Breathe and realize that it’s okay to let a few things go. Equilibrium is about balancing itself, not always having the exact same thing at the exact same time. It’s about realizing that if you have a busy work week, you might neglect some housework. If you have a busy home week, work might need to slow down a bit. The important part is that you focus on being the best you that you can be and forgive yourself for…well for taking time for you. It’s okay to have rough weeks because there will be brilliant weeks. It’s okay to have slow weeks because the fast-paced weeks will be just as awesome. Remember that you have to take care of yourself. You’re not a help to anyone if you neglect yourself.
